Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

hargi, welcome to snowheads, at the risk of a blatant plug I can recommend La Rosiere, it's high and very snowsure, it's a super resort to learn in as the layout of the psites ensures that you'll be able to get around the mountain very quickly, you won't just be stuck on the nursery slopes as you are in many resorts. The lift pass isn't expensive, I believe it's one of the best value resorts in the Alps and whilst the village is small and friendly there are enough bars and restuarants to ensure a reasonable apres skis scene. We have an ad in snowShops and there are a number of reviews from other snowheads in the resorts section or you can go to our website www.tracksvacations.com for more information.

hargi, in mid-April you're safest skiing on slopes which are above about 1800m, because the snowline rises quite quickly once the spring temperatures rise. Time your trip for a week after Easter and prices drop dramatically.

Packages are sometimes sold very cheaply for the late weeks of the winter. You might get lucky on Teletext - I have - which has hundreds of late bargains on the ski pages (p.226 from memory). Or try sites like iglu.com or ifyouski.com.

I'd be tempted to take a late decision on it, keeping tabs on the snow situation. If you book everything separately the problem can be the transfer from airport to resort, so a package may be least complicated and best value - especially if they can throw in good deals on equipment rental and ski school.
