Hi all,
So, have booked flights to Geneva on the 6th Dec to coincide with my 30th, now need to pick a resort which fits the below.....
- Snow! I know it's early in the season, but not sure where I am most likely to get cover
- Ski School- English speaking for a beginner running from the 7th/8th
- Transfer- no more than a 3 hour transfer from Geneva
- Budget- not hugely important, but cheaper is better and would prefer to do an airbnb/holidaylet rather than hotel or chalet
Over to you lot in the know!
Big love,
Chris

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

papeman,
Tignes
L2A
Cervinia
It's really early, absolutely pre-season. And so not in season that I don't think you need to book your resort till the very last minute. A problem may also be finding an instructor.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Might sound stupid but make sure you chose a resort that is open week by week and not just at weekends, as a lot are at that time of the year...

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It's.....pre-season. |
Er, not in Tignes - it's season proper at that time of year. Decent snow is as good as guaranteed and Espace Killy normally opens in the last weekend in November. Ski schools/instructors will also be no problem at that time.
papeman PM me if any interest in our (discount for Snowheads) four person apartment in Tignes - cheap early season prices .

mountainaddict, Agreed, every time ive been pre-season training in October its been snowing on the hill (funicular needed) and lovely shorts weather in the village. Tignes is a very safe bet (unless you get too much snow or wind!)

Saas Fee or Zermatt. Transfer slightly over your 3 hour limit. Not been to Saas Fee, but would guess it's slightly less expensive than Zermatt. Good English speaking ski schools in Zermatt and I think you can find some decent better value accommodation at that time of year. I think 6th Dec is their opening weekend, and there will be a decent amount of skiing open, including over to Cervinia.

Lovely village (picture postcard) and fairly decent glacier. Though IIRC, the slopes and village are quite shady and cold in early season?
