Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Volkl Nanuq or K2 Annex 98

Choosing between the above skis with marker barons on for my everyday ski . Any suggestions? Smile

Everyday on what? Assuming a decent amount of lift-served stuff, I'd lean towards the Annex (confession: not skiied it). They're much more substantial skis than the Nanuqs... at least 200g heavier per ski, and they have a metal layer. If you were touring more, the Nanuq might be a good choice but lightweight skis like that are kinda pointless if you're not doing much skinning.

I've used some of the Annex's predecessors (and they're okay), but the recent Blister review suggests that Annex 98 has a bit of a funny flex pattern compared to the old Hardside.

Seems like an odd decision to have to make. I'd lean towards the 'neither' option, myself. Prepared to consider other alternatives?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Many touring skis are pretty useless on piste. For a lighter person who finds the Völkl Mantra too hard but wants one pair of skis to do it all; who does a fair amount of offpiste and ski touring then the Nanuq's are not a bad choice.

If you are planning mainly piste with forays into the off-piste and touring then there are better skis around.

If you give your height/weight, skiing level and where you will be using the ski (e.g. 20%Piste, 80% offpiste with skitouring) you have more chance of being guided to the optimum skis for you.
