Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Intermediate ski length

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just a quick question for those out there with more knowledge than me. Getting some skis for my daughter who is 168cm tall and about 54kg, intermediate skier and wanting to improve. Seen a few offers. One shop suggested that ski length for her should be 158cm in the Rossignol Temptation 78 Xe they were suggesting. It seemed too long but who knows....

Would welcome thoughts from folks out there

Might it not be easiest just to rent/demo a few different lengths next time she's skiing?

Owning skis is nice, but they probably aren't what's holdering her back right now so there's presumably no rush to buy.

(the length doesn't sound terrible to me)

My eldest (13) was 165cm and and about 56kg she was on 155s for carvers and 166 for her twin tip park skis so seems about right to me, but it will depend a little on her physical build and her skiing level.

sarah, she is nearly 14 and has skied once a week for 9 years. Goes to the local dry slope most weeks now so gets tuition there. Her younger sister has a go at racing. No chemmy alcot but they have fun.

chrisb, agree with the others and the length sounds ok, is the ski for using on the plastic though? If so I'd be inclined to go shorter and skinnier than that.

sarah, thanks for comments. It will just be on snow so not to wreck them on the plastic. I know what you mean about ski length on the plastic. When I go on my skis (168cm and I am 190cm tall) feel like clown feet and I struggle getting round tight gates - although it may just be that I am a rubbish skier.....
