Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Will a ski being stuck in sunny shop window affect it?

 Poster: A snowHead

In the alps at the moment, and as usual in the summer there lots of sales, including a ski I have looking at for a while

however one slight (big??) issue, and I am not sure of the answer, hence asking the collective wisdom here

Have been Looking at a pair of pursuit 18's that are in a 50% off sale in a shop, one ski of the pair is in the window, in very bright sunlight most of the day, the other is inside in the shop.

Will the exposure to the hot sun damage it, (or the fitted bindings) its been there for at least 2 weeks as we have been here for that length time, and the sun hits the window directly and it was really hot near the window in the shop, so will be even hotter in the window area.

so one of the pair has been inside the shop at the back, the other in very different conditions in the window.

may be a silly question...sorry if it is Shocked

Sepends how long its been in the window, generally most places will be happy enough to stick the window and non window ski together so you can see if theres any visual difference side by side, then turn them over and look at the bases to see if theres any difference, if you can't see anything between the two you should be ok

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Dove, well, they're 50% off, so only fair if only one ski works.

Simply buy two pairs and use the two best skis, selling off the two dud ones as a pair at a 75% discount.

Will be fine, might discolour a white top sheet, hdpe (the base) is pretty uv resistant, maybe some degradation but I wouldn't expect it to be noticeable! Epoxy and things holding it together should be fine they are not so heat sensitive and not directly exposed to uv (though it would take a few years even if it were)

Dove, consider what a ski spends its life doing: hanging out in strong UV, going from freeze, ultra-freeze to thaw in short periods of time, being asked to carry a grown human on its back for days on end...

And you worry that a little holiday in the sun might be a problem?
