Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski the whole 2015 season in Switzeraland for Free

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I remember when I ran Chalets...bit of cooking, cleaning and socialising...stuff that I did everyday at home anyway...then skied everyday for a season... I couldn't believe I got paid to do it and I got tipped very well.

Can't see anyone not being able to do a bit of work on the side either, to help with income.

Great if you have an online based business.

I'm all for thinking outside the box. Cool

I think that's the closest snowHead s has come to feedback from previous sitters.

Yes if you've a internet based business it would be great, but the problem with doing a bit of work in resort (for a resort business) is that normally requires commitment to set hours or days of the week, and you can't just book a week off work during the busiest part of the season to look after your chalet owners (because unlike in the UK resort operations don't have armies of staff who can just fill in).

Unlike many people here I doubt you do this to save a few quid, given where you have your 2 chalets Shocked

1) leshop.ch - not incredibly helpful, but seems about CH14 for a 6-pack and CH12 for an OK bottle from the supermarket. Bars?

2) anything done to help us ours, anything done to help yourself yours - OK, that is the what, but the how? i.e. are you expecting your "helpers" to buy food/provisions/beer or wine or whatever for your consumption that you reimburse? If not, how? If travelling, and hence driving between resorts, does the same apply? i.e. reimbursing

Yes, Yes of course.

Other than that if you consune a full tank of gas because you feel the Need to blast the a Range Rover to Cham or Verbier for a days skking in the week I cant stop you, but dont expect me to pay for what you consume when we are not there.

The main thing is to use common sense, if you "borrow" stuff from a friend then leave it as you left it , otherwise you wont be friends for long.

If you have to ask in any more detail than that or cannot grasp that concept then sorry you just dont make the grade on simple integrity.

No-one was talking about common sense nixmap, merely clarifying a fairly essential part of the arrangement. I would have thought that was fairly obviously a reasonable request for clarification.

Your ever so slightly condescending replies ought to be a warning for anyone who may be seriously considering the "offer" and who may have legitimate questions.

For the first time, I am in the Marseque camp and rather suspect that if any awkward situations cropped up with authorities etc, you'd be light on support/cooperation. You certainly seem to like evading answering even fairly straightforward questions without resorting to rubbing people up the wrong way.

Good luck.

I'm out.

^^that pretty much.

Still never seen a single report back from anyone that took up the offer. So either (1) nobody, at least a sH, ever did, or (2) they did are are in a Swiss slammer, or (3) are all in the basement, or (4) have signed an NDA.

I just see the threads as a "we are loaded" intentional provocation. The threads have gone the same way every year before. Unsurprising that this year's thread goes exactly the same way and reported on the suspected spam thread.

So... has any sH taken this up or has anyone taken up this offer, and if they did, could they give a genuine summary?

Given the recent changes in Swiss minimum wage law coupled with the political atmosphere turning against foreigners, it does make 'unofficially not working just helping your mates' a more risky proposition for everyone. There was a case in France not too long ago of a regular client/friend carrying some glasses back to the bar as we would in the UK just to be nice/lend a hand (it was a British client and British run bar), but on witnessing it the French inspectors decided that it was undeclared labour. Perhaps the Swiss German inspectors would even have a different outlook to the Franco-Swiss ones... Puzzled

Doesn't astonish me at all there's very little feedback though; in it's prime natives.co.uk was probably getting tens of thousands of visits a day but of the hundreds of season staff, there were very few 'reviews' of previous employers (probably for fear of litigation).
