Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Historical Snow Depths - Where Can I Find Them?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I remember once looking at historical depths for different resorts over a period of a few years on the ski club website but now I am sure this is only available for members. Does anybody know of a site which I can access this information free.

Thanks!

Don't know of a new site, but from last year's experience, it proved that if you happen to go in an exceptional year (like me in Serre Che) then it doesn't matter if *historically* they have 50cm bottom and 170cm top if the year that you're there they have 0cm bottom and 30cm top...

If you're looking for snowsureness outside late Jan to end of Feb, pick a high resort with a glacier nearby... otherwise pray to your most convenient snow deity...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Quattro, don't think there's anything to compare with the SCGB's historical data. Let me know which resorts you're interested in and I'll have a look for you if you want?

Hi Quattro,

If you seach Snowheads you will find this information.

There is some information for French resorts going back to 1990 here:

I sometimes use this site.

http://uk.weather.com/activities/recreation/ski/

use method 2, click on the country and the week that you want and it gives you the average for the last 3 winters.

I'm not sure if The Ski Club is members only but they have a historical snow depths page. Les Arcs currently has about 20cm more than average for the time of year which can only be good news. snowHead

Thanks very much people! Off to Soldeu late Feb. Been before about 5 years ago and loved it. Much cheaper that the French and Austrian resorts I have been to the past 4 years. This is the first time organising a party of 10 - in the past gone with rugby club with poor organisation and poor accomodation so this year decided to do it myself. Final point IGLU have been fantastic! Thanks again. Tony (Quattro).

Haven't chosen yet... going in April so it'll be bloody high up, trust me! Breul/Cervinia, Passo Tonale, Sestriere, Orcieres Merlette are all possibilities. Don't like the hugely expensive lift pass at VT or Tignes so will probably avoid... but maybe not... don't know yet is the answer!
