Poster: A snowHead
|
I've never been there before, and am going with a group of 20 of us from 31st December - 7th January, so a couple of questions:
1) Is there anywhere to wirelessly or otherwise plug in a laptop in the unfortunate event I have to do some work?
2) Any other tips on the skiing and socialising front? (E.g. Runs/Itineries not to be missed; Outstanding mountain restraunts worth a diversion for; Venues to avoid in town etc.)

If your into moguls you must head to the 'Tortin' run, some of the biggest bumps I have ever seen when I was there couple of years ago. In terms of apres ski the place that sticks in the memory is Le Pub Mont Fort which was lively from 4pm til late. Great holiday spoilt when our chalet was broken into during the day.
Have never managed to do 'work' in the mountains and wouldn't want to so can't comment on laptop plug spots.
Enjoy.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks guys. 5 Fr an hour seems perfectly reasonable also compared to what you get charged in half the WiFi spots in this part of the world. I can even get a beer and a cheese burger.

there are a number of previous repoorts on eateries and best runs. If you go to the search box up at the top on the user facilities drop down, that should help you find them/

Steve Sparks, You'd probably be surprised despite using the search facility how difficult it is to find a great deal of information on Verbier from . I do tend to search before asking (hence probably the low post count).
Anyway the main question was the first one - the second was a bit of an open ended one as I couldn't find much on here, in anything approaching recent times, Verbier-wise.

was there today and the snow is quite thin - 10 boarders to every skier - quite a strange sight for me

I was keeping up with your reports on the other forum. Wouldn't mind not having to take rock ski's with me, so keeping the fingers crossed.

arcticfox, sorry, didn't mean to sound tetchy. Bad day; but getting better, as this time tomorrow I'll be on the plane to Geneva and skiing Verbier on Friday. I've dug out some old posts which should give you a bit more info on pubs etc and also on runs and itineries this one has a bit more on off piste options tucked away inside.
They're being slow opening the lifts up so looks like we'll be limited to Atellas-Ruinettes and maybe Medran over the weekend, but beats being at work! Will post a report on Tuesday.
