Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi!
A group of 9 of us are heading over to France for new year and were thinking either Tignes or La Plagne. Has anyone been to either of these for new year and can recommend which areas to stay in so that we can access the main events on the night & get home again!
thanks!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I'm thinking of tignes too. Where is the best to stay to see the fireworks etc. I was planning on going to the top of the resort for easy access to the pistes over the busy periods

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

New Year's Eve in Tignes is phenomenal. Stay anywhere except Brevieres and you will be able to get to the party although if you are in Boisses (1850) you will be dependent on very infrequent buses or non-existent taxis. The main event is usually in the square in Lac and typically involves a big name DJ, spectacular fireworks and 20,000 or so revelers.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cynic, Agree that's the preference but if you get a good deal in Val Claret you'll be fine. The walk back at 3 am is part of the fun, doesn't take long and will be in good company.

In La Plagne the main event is a party on the piste in Plagne Bellecote so any of the central altitude areas will be within a free bus ride away, and close enough to walk back to if necessary. There is music, stage show, dj, fireworks, ice bar etc
For accommodation think about Bellecote, Belle Plagne, Plagne 1800, Plagne Centre, Plagne Village, Plagne Soleil, Aime 2000
Happy Planning!
