Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

bexxeb, welcome to snowHeads! snowHead

I go to Megève usually three times a season - have done for years - one week at the beginning, middle and end of the season. The skiing consists of three areas: Mt d'Arbois/Mt Joux/Mt Joly, Rochebrune/Côte 2000 (linked by cable car to Mt d'Arbois) and Jaillet which is a bus ride from the other two areas, but also linked to Giettaz. That adds up to a lot of skiing, with plenty of scope for all standards. The most challenging pistes are on Côte 2000 and the most challenging off piste is on Mt. Joly. Also covered on the lift pass are Praz sur Arly and Les Contamines (and maybe Les Houches, but I forget).

In my experience, snow cover can be problematic at the beginning of the season (though Côte 2000 is reliable), February is obviously usually good and all the biggest blizzards I've experienced there have been in April. There's reportedly about 30cm in the village right now - that would usually translate to about 50cm on the lower slopes.

The village itself is wonderful. High rise development is banned - there's nothing over four stories. Plenty of good après ski, restaurants and shopping (chic but expensive!). There's an indoor and outdoor ice rink and an excellent sports centre.

If you search the site for Megève (mouse over 'user facilities and choose 'search') you'll find lots more specific stuff - much written by me. Please post any specific queries not covered.

Where will you be staying?
