Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Any good ski hire shops in Brides Les Bains? (down the road from Meribel)

Hi All,

I normally use skiset for ski rental as in my experience (4 times) if I rent an economy set of skis I get a pretty decent pair (not sure if that's just been luck). However I was a bit disapointed by the brides les bains branch under the gondola - on arrival they tried to upsell me better skis because they said the economy ones were rubbish, and indeed they were like 2 planks of lead. They also insisted on taking my driving licence as 'deposit' which in hindsight I should have refused. I know brides les bains is a budget resort but it just wasn't their normal service. Does anyone know any good hire shops in the resort?

Thanks,

mnbv

I have previously heard other people say that the ski-hire shop under the gondola in Brides Les Bains provides a poor service and is expensive.

When hiring in Brides Les Bains I use the shop within the Les Cybeles apartment complex at the western end of the main road. Not a huge selection but a very good service at a reasonable price.

I have also been told that the Precision Ski shop in the middle of town is pretty good.
