Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt for Xmas

We are heading to Zermatt for xmas this year and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to have xmas lunch ? I am told Zum See is great but does it live up to the hype ?

Zum See is great, as are many other places. You might want to look at any of the places in Findeln, Paradies, Adler (we sat next to Heston Blumenthal there once, and there wasn't a scrap of foam or vapour in sight!) Enzian, Findlerhof and of course Chez Vrony, which is still great, but a real 'tick box' place for so many people now that they do two sittings and for me it all feels a bit rushed now. Bear in mind that in Zermatt (and all over that part of the world) Christmas celebrations are held on 24th December, so the 25th is a 'normal' day on the slopes. You will still need to book ahead for any of the big name places, especially if in a group.
You could also look at places like Blatten below Zum See and Stafelalp, further up at Schwarzsee.
The Zermatt website has good links to all the restaurants and there is also a good smartphone app which has all the numbers, websites etc too.
We have been going to Zermatt for many years and I would be happy eating lunch in any of these places on Christmas Day (or any other day for that matter!)
Hope you enjoy it.

picnic64, if it's lunch while out skiing you could pop over the Cervinia side and go to Chalet Etoile http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/snowandski/8104856/The-worlds-ten-best-mountain-restaurants.html?image=3
