I think Plake, was stating how he felt about it. I don't think he was trying to comment on how it should be viewed by anyone else.
For myself, I think the guy knew what risks he was taking and sadly paid a dreadful price. As you say we are seeing him do what he loved - and to an extent that is a memorial to him.
