Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The snow cover looks good, but it looks quite overcast, and a bit dark. Sorry to hear that you got "taken out", but glad you are okay. Yes, I agree, the slopes are becoming more dangerous, tell me about it Mad

That's what Mrs Ise was saying, I was out on my own so it might have been a bit awkward to get home although I suppose I could have tried the train.

I'm not certain how hard I hit the helmet, I'm thinking I might need a new one.

Did you feel shaken up afterwards, once the anger had subsided?

Ah, I spent a happy week at Saanenmoser a few years back. We stayed at Chateau D'oex (?) and took the little train everyday to Saanenmoser. It was only my second outing on skis, but had a great time. My memory is vague but there is a run which was like 'v' shaped and you had to go whizzing down the steep piste (well, I was novice so it was steep to me then) and you had to really go for it in order to get up the other side. It terrified me first time, but then I got to love it!

Sorry to hear of your accident though. Sadly, the idiots are everywhere. I met a gang of them in Zermatt when some snowboarders decided to have a sit down across the middle of the piste just over the brow of a hill, in bad visibility. I ask you. rolling eyes

Perhaps I should take my moderators chainsaw and some spiked poles when I go skiing, a few heads on spikes might persuade people to behave properly on the piste, what do you think Twisted Evil Laughing

Did you get his name and address, if so, charge him for the helmet. If he's a decent person he should be happy to pay for it.

No I didn't and I definitely took a hard hit to helmet so I'm going to need a new one. It's not the money of course, it's the principal.

Falls/collisions vary, there's no doubt in my mind that without the helmet it could have been a lot worse.

If you fell directly on your head, then you will likely need a new helmet, but if you ("merely"!) banged your head, it is not a definite for replacement. Your call, you read as though you would be happier replacing it.

As I read the standards and recommendations for helmets then I think any significant blow to the helment requries replacement. But, as you say, I'd rather err on the side of caution anyway.
