Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Poster: A snowHead
We are off skiing in the morning and therefore running around last minute trying to sort everything.
We are flying Jet 2. Ema to Chambry
We have paid for 2x ski carriage.
Can we take coffin bag and what can we put in it?
Can we take 3 pairs of skis?
Boots clothes in coffin bag?
Thanks

With jet 2 from Leeds I have used ski bag which gives 20kg allowance and you can put anything in it including boots

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's all down to weight.

The Jet2 website FAQs seem pretty unambiguous:

The baggage allowance is 22kgs for each travelling customer per bag booked and paid for (excluding infants). When pre-booking additional bags in advance of travel, the allowance increases by 22kgs per extra bag booked up to a maximum of 3 bags, or 66kgs, per travelling customer. No single item of baggage can weigh more than 32kgs.

Golf bags and ski equipment charges are 30GBP/ 39EUR/ 58CHF/ 1060CZK/ 210PLN per flight for each item up to 20kgs but you can save £5 by pre-booking online »

As above
It's all down to weight

I have just flown with them today
They weighed my coffin bag and I cross checked with the girl on the desk
The max weight for a ski bag is 20kgs so put what you want in but keep it below 20kgs

apart from Edinburgh to Chambery where it doesn't matter what you put in the ski bag, it won't be travelling anyway. Which is why I now always do EDI-GVA, won't touch Jet2. Would be interested to hear from anyone whos travelled Jet2 to EDI-CMF and got skis this season, though, just to see if they've upped their game?

Yes I dont think MAN-CMF was such a problem, my skis usually made it back through MAN or LBA ! I am wondering if EDI-CMF is still as bad though - anyone?

Not heard anything specific this year - perhaps they got a non 737-QC aircraft up there. The QC stands for quick change (ie about an hour to take out the seats and turn it into a freighter) and are used for the Royal Mail runs around the country. All the extra kit involved in this increases the all up weight of the jet - which then leads to operating limitations into Chambery (which is tricky in the first place).
