Welcome aboard Stujmck, What kind of trouble? Initiating the turn, holding the turn or is the board washing out from under you, catching edges?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It would probably do you the world of good to pay for a lesson and have someone watch your snowboarding and advise. Worth their weight in gold sometimes.

Just to be clear, you're catching the heel edge on toe-side turns and getting catapulted backwards, right?

A dry slope in norwich which is pretty close

I'll lay money that when you do heel turns you end up making nasty scraping sounds; reckon on you're not leaning forward enough on your lower leg, your centre of gravity is moving over the heel edge and wham...
PICTURES!
You're bloke A, you want to be bloke B. Shift your CoG back over your board and things may improve.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Thanks Richard, I'll keep it in mind for next time out, I kinda thought that might be the case
I guess being a beginner and out by myself it's been a bit tricky
Keeping a eye on my form. Cheers mate

If you have trouble getting a handle on it, you could try the boot touch drill. When you're in the traverse, slowly lower yourself so you can touch both boots with your hands (Just the top will do) rise up into your turn, the come back down again as you finish. You look dumb doing it but the exaggerated crouch will show you just how tall you were standing before, and it makes you bend in the right way too at the ankle and knee, as if you bend at the waist you'll become unstable and fall over.
Remember, your legs are your suspension and it's bumpy out there, if you run out of travel in your suspension then you get thrown about, so stay centred and bend ze knees.

To be more articulate:
What Richard_Sideways says could well be the case, but it could be about 1,000,000 other things too. Most likely, you just don't even know what the correct movements to make to turn the board even are (from what you've said).
You could:
a) Slowly and painfully figure out some movements which will get the board round but will most probably be pretty poor technique which will end up holding you back in the long run
b) Take lessons

Just a thought, but isn't 15, 15 a bit unnecessary at this point in someone's development? Unlikely to be doing much riding switch at this point. I think most people start with something closer to 15 and {-6,-3 or 0}.

^^ Not suggesting that's going to solve the problem you posted about, just a point that came to mind.
Yep I'd agree with getting a lesson.
Remember to put your weight onto your leading foot. Point where you want to go with your arm if that helps. Not a good thing to do longer-term but it can help with progressing with turns.

No.
getting the body into a nice aligned stance is important from day 1.
15/15 or 12/12 are ideal places to learn

Just be pleased times have changed - year I first strapped on a board my instructor insisted on a +/+ stance, said the backfoot should NEVER be less than 0 degrees.

Agree with mini.mansell. Angle between your feet should be between 20 and 30°. Usually closer to 30°. So if you did choose to run 0° on the back foot (wouldn't recommend it, but whatever floats your boat!) you should be looking at using an angle on the front foot in the high twenties.
