Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ski repair

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Started to service my skis in readiness for the EOSB and noticed that one of my edges is starting to come away from the ski.

I'm thinking that I should be able to fix this by applying some araldite and then clamping together until set.

Can anyone with more experience of repairing skis confirm if araldite is the best glue to use. Also is any repair likely to last or is this ski effectively finished.

Araldite (conventional, not Rapide) should do the trick. I'd work it right in with a very fine blade.

From here it looks like the edge is straight and the rest of the ski is curved away from it. If so, then I'd forget the G-clamp and just leave it to set so that the Araldite fills the gap.

AB Ski, there looks to eb one hell of a big dent on the edge in the picture...is there some base damage??

ye it is an epoxy that you need to use to repair a delamination, but it doesn't work with the arladite that you buy in B&Q it needs to be a flexible slow cure type, Spyderjon (jons ski tuning)/The Piste office) sells it, get the right stuff, heat the area gently to get the glue to flow better into the gap and make sure there is no grease dirt oil etc anywhere near it, should glue up nicely

alternatively if the ski is within warranty AND there is no impact on the edge or the base at that area then you probably have a claim (but it needs to be checked out properly )

yes there is a bit of a ding in the edge there which is probably the cause of the problem. Don't know how I picked it up Puzzled there is no visible base damage in the area though.
