Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

1st week in April; 1850, Les Menuires, VT or La Tania

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just looked at the forecasts and there looks to be a fair bit of snow coming down over the next week, so we are thinking of heading out next weekend for 7 days.

We stayed in 1850 a similar time last year, and the year previous in La Tania. Looking for good deals, and there are some in all areas above; you pays your money you takes your pick so I know they will all be budget in terms of the accommodation - but it is the skiing that is more important.

We stayed in VT a fair few years ago, but early in the season, although I know that this time of year it will still be good due to its height. We haven't stayed in LM at all though.

Any guidance on which resort to choose as a base, arriving in about a week? I think the biggest help would be info regarding LM vs. VT.

TIA folks Smile

Go high - it will be pouring with rain in La Tania tomorrow until late afternoon - I'd go for VT

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Les Menuires is west facing - if it warms up at all, beware ice (am) and slush (pm).

So easy to get up to VT from LM, but likely to not be enjoyable getting down?

La Tania gets you into the north facing 1850 Courchevel area quicker...but VT is higher...I'd get the best deal I could in either location!!

So scrub LM from the list for this late in the season? Hmm.

I've been a few times and LM does seem to hold up less well than the others. VT or 1850 I think - I'm in 1550 the same week (got a good price weeks ago)

Finding some good prices in LT at the moment as the Missus is a bit fixated on LT. Running out of steam now, so will expand the search to 1850 tomorrow.

LT will be fine.....gondola up and over to 1850, worst case gondola back down, but I think the home run has always been open for many, many years.

Well, despite not having considered it at all - my wife has just booked Meribel!

One lift (Saulire Express) to the top of Creux and a free minibus to and from anywhere in the resort means that a full day skiing high above Courchevel will be a doddle. And a similar situation for VT - there in an hour I reckon.

The only downside is that we may end up taking a cabin back to resort, but if I still get to ski until last lift I won't shed any tears.

Permission to be excited! Very Happy

kitenski, only because at 1400m I reckon that the bottom pistes will be like porridge at 4:30 - 5pm. I know that Folyere in LT gets pretty sticky at the bottom late afternoon. So I am looking at the worst that can happen.Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, although I do remember skiing into and out of there last year and the year before and not especially liking the bottom bit.
