Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which is the most aggressive ski resort.

If I was in Scotland with kit available and someone said 'I'm going skiing for the day do you fancy coming along?' I would go just to see what it was like. After all, I'm happy to spend an occasional day in a snowdome and a Scottish mountain has surely to got to have the edge on that as an experience.

However, I don't think I'd go to Scotland for a whole ski holiday when I have the chance to go to the alps. Holidays are just too rare and I like to go to the alps for the ambience as much (possibly more?) as the skiing - somehow I doubt that I would get the same 'buzz' from a Scottish ski slope (just based on assumption - I've never been and clearly don't know for certain which is why I would be up for trying it as I don't feel it is right to be too critical of something that I've no experience of). If I was on holiday to see Scotland a day's skiing could feature in that, but is unlikely to correspond time wise as sight seeing in Scotland is def. a summer excursion. It has to be said that I am not enamoured of T bars and I do like lift systems full of chairs and gondolas too so that probably features as a valid point in the 'can't see me doing more than an odd day' mind-set.

FWIW I still can't see how people can describe ski resorts as 'aggressive' Puzzled

Yes, it's very slightly better than 160m of suspiciously discoloured sugar in a post-apocalyptic warehouse. Only slightly though.

Looking back over to our ski tracks at this Scottish ski resort yesterday, it hardly seemed worth the effort making them when we skied down to the cafe. They didn't sell tartiflette and there were no queues at the lifts so we couldn't even start any fights to work off our anger management problems.

Looks like there was some pretty aggressive line stealing going on there, not worth the bother. Toofy Grin Toofy Grin

geeo, we'll be dropping them as aid parcels for you come independence

Scotland's resorts being aggressive places to ski? I think the accent just scares the poo-poo out of a lot of southerners and that's poss why everyone south if the border thinks they're chatting to a murderous loon when engaging with a Scot.

It's just miles away and the gluhwein would surely be warmed up bucky

The other thing is that from some locations in the UK it's almost as far to go to ski in Scotland as it is to ski in the alps Madeye-Smiley

FIFY - it's not so far for people in Northern England (and for those in Scotland itself it is still (currently) also a location in the UK....) Toofy Grin

Alastair Pink, thank you - yes, it had been my intention to put the word 'some' in that myself.

what...snow, I don't think I suggested that it did, but it once took me 10+ hours to drive from where I live to Aberdeen, (in fact when the roads were bad one bank holiday it took that long to do Anglesey to where I live!! Shocked ), I can do Calais to VT in 10 hours driving if I put my mind to it. It is a demonstrably accurate statement to say that it could easily be as quick for me to drive to the alps as it might to drive to Northern Scotland and find the mountains there. Don't get me wrong, I love Scotland, but if I had the choice in a valuable one week holiday to go and ski Scotland for a whole week or ski the alps, I'd go an ski the alps. If I lived closer (say within 2 hours of Scottish skiing) I could easily see me there to ski for weekends though and those of you that can are very lucky IMO, but, of course, it takes you longer to get to the alps!!

andyrew, I didn't leave out the word 'some' on purpose it was an error, the statement only makes sense with the word 'some' added and that was my intention (no-one has to believe that, but it is the truth rolling eyes ) - I've edited it above.

skiing in Scotland is fantastic; its just the weather that can throw a spanner in the works. Still - weve done two trips up there (Glencoe and Caringorms) and it was fab. Aviemore has the feel of French resorts we've been to - just brilliant fun. We didnt do too much in Glencoe as it was ph's first ever time on snow, but the Cairngorms blew me away it was so amazing...just the queues need a bit of sussing out, but we adopted some old guy (actually I think he adopted us) who was stranded at the bus stop with his skis (no bus on a Sunday) so we gave him a lift up the mountain and he skied with us and was our guide Very Happy Very Happy he was the father of the owners of the Ravenscroft B&B iirc and as it was my birthday we were invited around for drinks that evening. We also got stuck in Glasgow on the way back (literally as the motorways closed due to snow) all hotel rooms were booked up as city workers couldnt get home either. Local pub let us sleep on their bench seating (meaning the Landlord had to stay up all night as others were in the same predicament) and gave us free breakfast in the morning.

Just looking at the possibility, and it is adding up faster than I thought, might try it for a boys weekend.

St Anton is mentioned here a lot.

Because of the regions challenging terrain it attracts a large amount of advanced, expert skiers & many skier wannabees who have no idea about the rules or even the consequencies & punishments that they may receive while causing trouble on & off the slopes.

Here are some English idiots who seem to think this kind of thing is funny.

Question is did Ben suffer from the cut of the camera and they all trooped up to apologise? (personally doubt it from reading the situation)
