Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sitting in sauze just now and the crystal Rep is trying to do the usual hard sell on things. The only one I am slightly interested in is montgenevre. 23euros to go by bus and spend day there. We thought we could ski over to it and are all pretty decent skiers. The two days it will take two hours and 90 per cent of that will be on a lift. Can anyone advise whether it is worth heading over our not and whether the bus is worthwhile

I think a trip over to Monty is worth it, snow is usually better and it is fun to travel so far on skis.

If you ski it, it will be a fair time spent on lifts, but I've just soaked up the view and enjoyed it. 2 hours is probably a fair estimate of total time to get there. Allow plenty of time for the ski home too. I'd probably head back from Monty after lunch, to be sure. Don't think of it as sking to Monty, but more of a circuit to enjoy all parts of (piste map has the circuit marked).

You can also go by bus, and it would mean you get longer in Monty. Maybe try skiing it one day, and if you like it there and wish you had more time, then do a bus trip??

We went to Sauze in February (with Crystal) and only skied over as far as Sestriere. But from looking at the piste map we all decided that skiing over there would be an enormous mission, and by the time you got there you'd pretty much have to turn around and come straight back. The bus seems like the best way to do it IMO.

I was staying in Sansicario last week and reckoned it took up about 90mins to get to Montgenevre so 2hrs is probably about right, a lot of this was because of the slow moving chairs you have to use to get there. You also have to make sure you have plenty of time to get back or it could be and expensive taxi ride, is the 23 euro for one or two people?
On Saturday we found Sansicario and Claviere much quieter than Sauze and Sestriere. If you do go on the way back get the chair down rather than the long blue as it is a very slow run and you get great views from the chair.

mikeelsa, Was in Sauze for a week at end of Jan. Ski over rather than taking the bus. It's a great day out. No need to blast it over, leisurely day with a couple of coffee stops and lunch in Montgenevre before skiing back.

If you want to get maximum skiing time in Montgenevre then the bus is by far the best option., get the benefit of being escorted around too which is a bonus

tried both. early one afternoon we just started heading that way and went to claviere getting the very slow two man lift up and then the long four man. at this point we thought about trying to get to france but time was against us. how I wish I had read about the long blue that is blue 90. the worst run I have been on and eclipses the horrid long green in L2A I did as a beginner. took us ages to get down it but made it back.

we did the bus to montgenevre 23 euros each was worth it as we got the whole day there and it is a great area. completed my most daring act yet when I went over the top of the black tetras, easily the steepest I have done and very icy as well as having loads of moguls. delighted to get down it in one piece.
