Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tremblant - driving from Montreal

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,

Am considering Tremblant for next years ski trip (Uk Feb half term) and considering DIY as well as package.

Does anyone have any info on the drive from Montreal in terms of how susceptible (and likely) it is to disruption during snow and whether the drive is 'tricky' in terms of lots of winding ascent etc?

Did a trip to Killington few years ago driving from Boston and that was very straight forward so looking for comparisons if possible?

Any help appreciated,

Cheers!

Very straightforward drive from Montreal. Tremblant isn't high at all - so no winding ascent. The folks in Quebec are used to snow so I wouldn't expect any travel problems. Slightly complicated autoroute situation getting out of Montreal city centre as I recall (take a Sat Nav) -- but otherwise no problem. Be prepared to freeze your nuts off though. Canadian winters take no prisoners. We go most years at Xmas (wife's family), and I still haven't got used to it.

Tremblant reminds me a little of 'Close Encounters' - a high mound surrounded by flat land. I've stayed once in resort and once a 10 minute drive away in a cottage by a lake. Very easy to drive to the mountain. Various car parks give easy access to chair lifts. It's a great resort for children. I have very happy memories of Tremblant - only times I've been on a ski holiday with OH as he doesn't ski (just didn't like it!!!). We booked a Husky experience at a resort booking office - it was absolutely brilliant and importantly the dogs very very well cared for.

Great, thanks for the replies. Sounds fairly straight forward so will step up researching the DIY option.

And to convince the rest of the family!
