Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pyrenees?

Ok folks, have skied in Andorra and Tignes. Just got given redundancy notice so money is going to be tight for a while. Am considering the Pyranees as I have a caravan near Bayonne and so can be in the mountains within a couple of hours and could do may 3 days skiing and the resent in our caravan. Cauterets has been recommended. So...

Anyone know anything about it?
Any other recommendations?
In a normal year...how late can you ski in that area?
Any idea of prices? Eating out or accommodation self catered etc.
Are they more short break friendly than the alps?
Level of runs compared to Tignes/val d?

Any other info great fully received. Travel dates either the half term or early Easter as daughter is going to be in year 10 so no chance of bunking out of school.

Thanks

Maria

Barege and le tourmalet are great places also gavernie also not sure how close to your van they are but are both good places.Luz St saviur is a good base for both places and plenty of rental accommodation and bars. The skiing is pretty good for a couple of days at Tourmalet and Gavernie is a great day resort.

I don't know Cauterets personally, but last year it had the greatest level of snowfall and greatest snowdepth of any resort in the world during the middle of last season!

Prices in the French Pyrenees are typically quite low, but of course you'd have to compare small resort with small resort to get a fair comparison.

Most Pyrenean resorts try to open until Easter, and the western and central Pyrenees don't generally have too much trouble doing that. Cauterets closes on 27 April.

The Pyrenees are very short-break friendly, since that's their major client base (ie daytrippers and weekenders).
