Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Saas Fee tips please! (including offpiste)

Going to Saas Fee with work colleagues for a long weekend - leaving tonight. We're staying in Saas Grund.

Any tips on good bars on or off the mountain?

I guess we'll discover the pistes by ourselves but any tips for offpiste, including tours?

I'm aware it hasn't snowed for a while so we won't find any fresh snow. Also aware there's a glacier there so tips on where NOT to go offpiste would also be welcome!

Hi Horizon

The weather is great, the snow is perfect, you should be in for an excellent weekend!

Saas Fee is full of bars, i guess Rudi's (at the hotel Mistral) and the Black Bull on the main street are the liveliest places for a drink or two after skiing.
Not sure how busy Saas Grund is at the moment but the TeePee by the bottom station of the gondola can be fun. If you need something to eat the pizzas at the Bergheimat in Saas Grund are outstanding!

As I said, the snow is perfect though the off piste is quite well tracked now. There is a lot of off piste but, unless you know the area extremely well I would urge you to take a guide. The guide's office is with the Swiss Ski School office on the main square. That having been said, there is some interesting off piste through the trees in the Plattjen area which is not on the glacier.

Hope this helps
Chris
