Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Left Ski Keeps Catching In Snow

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just got back from a long weekend in Chamonix. This was my second time Sking.I am able to ski ok even though i fall quite a lot.I was falling less as each day went by but it's usually the same thing that makes me fall though. My left ski(weaker leg) seems to catch in the snow and put me off balance.Even when i am going in a straight line and think i have the same weight on both ski's it still seems to happen.I'm not sure what i am doing wrong and how to fix it.Am i putting too much/not enough weight on it?Anyone have any tips on how i can sort it out?

Thanks

unusually for me I have to agree. I am a bit concerned when you say "2nd time skiing" . You have had some instruction, know what you're doing?

It may be a bio-mechanical issue with your legs or feet. I used to catch outside edges a lot until I saw a podiatrist who sorted out orthotic footbeds for me. In my experience, instructors do not spot these things. Nor do boot fitters, except for the all too few really committed expert ones. Do your everyday shoes wear unevenly?

Either way, lessons will help you ski better.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Are you sure it's the outside edge of the left ski? It could be your ski pole. If you get that between your ski and the snow there will (usually) only be one outcome. Face plantsville.
