Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Goretex softshell jackets

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi folks,
any suggestions for Goretex softshell jackets? Looking for one for a trip, ideally with Recco as my travel insurance will give me a discount if I have that along with my
pieps!

I was on the lookout for a Haglofs Couloir jacket as it seems to fit the bill although it is a discontinued item apparently? I need one with a helmet compatible hood, pit zips, not fussed it it has a snow skirt or not, as above, RECCO fitted and not massively expensive.

Failing the Couloir, any ideas?
Thanks, Den

the Pieps I can understand, but I thought Recco was just about recovering bodies. Puzzled Which travel insurance - I'm intrigued?

Denni, If all else fails just cannibalise an old jacket/pants/boots and stick the recco reflector into your pocket, its a passive device so you won't do it any harm. Not that it will do much beyond making your body easier to find as Megamum says!

Arcteryx stuff is good...don't discount hard shells either....just as breathable and better in wet snow/rain IMHO

Looks like you can still buy the Haglof here

Though for £450 personally I'd need a weeks skiing thrown in to justify buying one Shocked

For insurance companies point of view a quick body recovery may keep costs down. Relatives stuck out tbere waiting for news, search claims etc.

Ironically - I'm just about to send back a couple of Couloir Pro jackets (the 2014 version) to SportPursuit which I managed to pick up at around £250 a piece (a large and a medium). I'd bought both sizes intending to send the one that didn't fit back - but as it happens I hadn't realised quite how green they would be in the flesh Blush !

I think I have 14-days to get them back for a refund - but if anyone wants to take them off my hands happy to let them go to a good home instead.
