Despite the info on the tourist info for La Clusaz - we have excellent snow about 40cm at resort level. They have been bashing the slopes today in preparation for opening both Beauregard and Cret du Merle chair lifts and cable cars, this weekend!
Got the skis ready already!!!

graviteski,
Sounds good news - I was wondering what the lower resorts would be like, is it likley to be the same in Les Carroz - not far from you as the crow flies!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

graviteski, Genuine question. One of my ambitions is to stay in Chalet "Le Panoramic" in La Clusaz. Would you recommend it or is your spot better?

Frosty the Snowman,
Le panoramic is a lovely chalet and a superb position right at the base of the main La Clusaz slopes. A lovely couple run it (simon and lisa) and I would highly recomend it. They get full quickly, so you may have to be quick if you are planning to stay there this year!
NorthWestFace,
They may well have snow in les Carroz have you had a look at the webcams on www.snoweye.com? It's about an hour from us, and maybe a lttle lower in altitude. They definately have in Flaine which is the big resort further up the mountain in the Grand Massif, as we have had snowmail alerts. I don't know if they are open yet though? have you tried their tourist info sites www.lescarroz.com/index.html

According to the web sites Flaine opens on 10 December and Les Carroz on 17th.
La Clusaz has often had a more flexible approach. I remember it opening a small area at the end of October in the early 90's for a weekend after some heavy early snow. Fortunately I was living close enough to benefit from it, unlike now

As promised, the Beauregard and Cret du Merle lifts were running today and the skiing/boarding was fantastic! We had about 40cm of quite heavy snow last night and then another 10-15cm of more powdery snow throughout the day - lots of nice soft landings for those early season tumbles! Only complaint was that it reduced the visibility a bit - but mustn't grumble, eh!
More forecast tonight too - we're just hoping that they're going to be flexible enough to keep the lifts running right through the week too!
