Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi I am looking to go skiing in Italy in April for a week with family - skiers and boarders, I am thinking of la thuile can you please give your thoughts on la thuile (am slightly concerned that April may be too late) and poss suggest any others Italian resorts you think might be better for April, we have all been before but not confident intermediates and the skiiers like the blue runs - thanks Razz

"In April" is a bit vague.

But anyway, La Thuile closes late April, and should be fine. The home runs are generally on the tough side, but the main flank is just one big wide go-where-you-like blue run, basically.

Cervinia up the road is higher and more snow sure, has a larger area, and is probably more suitable for you. The reds are mostly blue.

lf, beginning or end of April? - can make quite a difference.
But, fortunately, this year Italy has had some big dumps of snow: Courmayeur 220cm/120cm, Cervinia 395cm/120cm.
Courmayeur is considered less snowsure, but i've skied there in April a couple of times with excellent snow conditions, plus glorious sunshine, wonderful views and superb food.
Also the town is quite charming (but also full of very expensive shops).

(edited lower depth Courmayeur: not 210cm as originally stated rolling eyes )

lf, La Thuile has pretty good early intermediate skiing at altitude and a decent snow record. I recommended it to friends for an early April trip and they enjoyed it so much they returned several times and have not skied outwith Italy since. A decent choice IMO.
