Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can You Hire Avalanche Airbags Trois Vallees

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all. I'm coming over from Australia (not Austria) to ski off-piste week, in well-run guided coaching group, out of Courchevel later in March. I have my own transceiver/probe/shovel & know how to use. But this company doesn't have avy airbags for hire. I'd rather not get into a long & fruitless discussion about whether avy bags etc are good or evil please. Also, my apologies if already dealt with on another thread - in that case pls direct me there

Does anyone know of a place I can hire one in Trois Vallees?. For this trip at least, I'd like to hire
Preferably an outlet NOT in Val Thorens/St Martin de B/Les Menuires as I'll be staying in Le Praz or La Tania, but anywhere down that side (or alternatively, Meribel) would be fine.

They're too expensive (& hard to find) over here, I don't have time to ensure one would arrive from USA if ordered online. Anyway I'd rather avoid the airline/canister scenario. On arrival in France, timing/transfers aren't likely to afford opportunity to shop for one (unless there's a good place close to Geneva, like Annemasse, mb)

Thanks

aquaperson, I would try Camp de Base on the ground floor of the Forum in Courchevel 1850. I'm not sure if they do rent airbags, but that's where I would try first. May be worth giving them a call

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Patch. I'll try to suss it out. I bit the bullet & purchased a Mammut on special online @ Backcountry.com. Think I'll get the gas cylinder in France as they were out of stock, & in any case I'd rather get it wrongly confiscated by airline once (on homeward journey) instead of twice. I'm hopeful it will arrive b4 I depart
