Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Haute Maurienne magic

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just back from a week's work in the Maurienne valley, and much as I shouldn't blow its trumpet too much some pics are worth sharing.

As there doesn't appear to be a Maurienne valley conditions thread it is worth noting that conditions are rather good now all the way up the Haute Maurienne, with snow falling down to valley floor level several times through our stay, and good skiing right down to resort base everywhere we went. Even Aussois (sunnyside) looked good (from the other side of the valley...).

More pics to follow in a second post... and they get much, much better!

PS apologies for the blatant watermarking, but having had a few photos appear on random websites I do feel it is necessary...

It's nice to see the Maurienne (and in particular) the Haute Maurienne getting some exposure. Nice pics. Have you been on the Cimarella?

marksavoie, have skied a bit up above the Evettes hut - NE face Albaron, N face direct on Petite Ciamarella, and N face of Grande Ciamarella... Plenty of fun stuff to go at up there!

Of course those were just the warm up shots...

We had a good top-up midweek so went storm-skiing in the trees at Valfréjus:

I hesitated quite a bit over going to Val Cenis on the Thursday, and was quite glad we did go in the end:

Val Cenis delivers big style! I have eyed up this descent every year I have been here, and Thursday was THE day finally. (And to think we nearly didn't come here!):

700m vertical descent like this? Oh, OK then...
