Poster: A snowHead
|
First time posting......
I have not skiied for over 12 years but want to get back into it, still have my Rossignol ski boots and are looking for a good secound hand pair of skis to go with them to save the hire etc, i was not too bad a skier back then and will hopefully pick back up where i left off within a few weeks.
I have the chance of a pair of Rossignol all mountain skis 170's, would these be okay for skiing at my level, going to be using them in Scotland, artificial slopes and possibly abroad too?
i am 5'8 in height and around 11 stone.
Dont remember so many different types of skis a few years ago, really stumped on what ones are the best to get!!
Any ideas?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The length sounds fine; might help if you named the actual ski though.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

ken0099, if whoever is selling them can't tell you what they are, I'd walk away.

blahblahblah, hope not! They're a beginner's noodle
ken0099, you've got to find out what they are for and how much use they've had for any decent feedback. Used skis are a minefield - be careful you're not buying something way out of date or at the end of it's life.

Something missing in that phot What could it be?? Oh yeh bindings!
If you want rockhoppers have a look at one of the second hand specialists on ebay, skibarn or someone like that. you get some idea of condition and they usually wax and service skis. You can still get a dog and some have had a hard life but I have had 2 good pairs that way to beat up the Glencoe heather.

thanks, they are not the ones in the ebay listing above, they are 7 years old but just been serviced and in good condition, so they say.
cant justify paying a few hundred pounds for a set, is ebay a bit dodgy? is Rossignol skis any good?

Depends which Rossi ski it is! There are some good secondhand ski sellers on Ebay like skibarn as Col the Yeti says and some good stuff on private sale, equally there is stuff only fit for the dustbin being sold as well so be very careful!

ken0099, again. if they can't tell you exactly what ski, they are either being stupid or trying to kid you. It's not just a case of whether they are good skis, but also how much they have been used. Servicing means nothing - just some wax and sharpening the edges.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

They are not likely to be worth much, can't go too far wrong if you are paying £50 or less, otherwise Id walk away

Unless the edges are gone or the base is shot, distinctly possible with skis that age, in which case it'd be £50 wasted!
