Poster: A snowHead

Hi,
I am planning on driving from Zurich airport to Landeck and then onto Serfaus. Looking at google maps the journey seems pretty straight forward except the border crossing from Switzerland into Austria, hopefully it will be well signposted. The hire car in Zurich airport will presumably have the the Swiss vignette and will be able to purchase the Austrian one close to the border. Is there anything else that I should be looking out for on the journey ? Can someone also recommend a supermarket in Landeck that will be open at 5pm on a Saturday so that we can stock up for the week.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks

Yep, it is very straightforward. As you say, get the Austrian vignette at the border (either just before, or at the petrol station just after). Allow about 3 hours (for the journey, not to get the vignette ).
Don't know about supermarkets in Landeck - there are plenty but they might be closed on Saturday afternoon. If you drive over the pass you'll drive through St Anton and drive right past 2 supermarkets when you do (there's a Billa on the left and a larger one as you leave town on the right, I forget the name). If you go through the Arlberg tunnel you'll miss them, but you can easily head back towards St Anton when you exit the tunnel and you'll see a large supermarket as you head towards town. The Billa will be open on Saturday afternoon, not so sure about the other one.

Thanks guys,
Had never considered stopping anywhere but Landeck but it makes much more sense to stop in Feldkirch. It will take some of the stress out of the journey trying to make Landeck before 6 especially as I will be watching my speed.
Is it worth taking the Arlberg tunnel, and paying the extra toll, or taking the mountain route ?
Snowball, thanks for the hospital advice but don't have any intention on using it !!!

Tunnel or pass depends on the weather really. Does take longer going over the pass, but not much fun in heavy snow. Another stop option for supermarkets is Bludenz-Bürs, Zimba park there has a large Interspar, and near by are both a Lidl and Hofer.

Take the tunnel, when you are stuck behind a lorry and a line of germans out for the weekend for 30 minutes you will regret not blowing the 9 euros.
Feldkirch is nice, (im here so its actually awesome) but be sure to book a place to stay early as things book out surprisingly early! (Hotel wise most are livable, avoid the hotel post, owner there is a bell end!)

Obviously if I had researched it properly I would realise that there are plenty of options. What are Lidl and Hofer like in Austria ? Have never used them abroad, always had the impression that they were cheaper and carried less of a range than we are used of.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

You're clearly not from Yorkshire then;-)
[to be clear, I am, and I would regret spending 9€ under most circumstances ]
