Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Air Transat - No Flights for Winter Yet....A Bit Strange? (Or perhaps not!)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Been looking at the possibility of a Canada trip in late Dec/early Jan of next season.

For this winter, scheduled return Air Transat flights from Manchester to Calgary have, at times, been about £300 cheaper than the usual scheduled airlines - eg early Feb was about £400 return.

However, no flights currently come up on the Air Transat website after Oct 2014. Even stranger, I rang the airline today to be advised that they have no idea when winter flights will be on sale.

All seems more than a little odd.... Confused

Oh...Ta! I'm used to easyjet etc flights coming out in x2 batches a year - but had assumed that a long haul operator would be bookable a year or so in advance - like BA, KLM, Lufthansa and co. currently are.

Cheers!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Air Transat are more of a charter holiday airline than a long haul operator - probably still waiting to sort out what they are doing. In the UK their may be more info on the Canadian Affair website (not sure who owns who though!)

Usually you can't book more than 11 months in advance for scheduled airlines.

Flight schedules change from Summer to Winter timetables as the clocks go forward/back. They may not have drawn up their Winter 14/15 schedule yet.

Are you sure they are running winter flights from Manchester?
They stopped this winter schedule last year and it was unavailable this year, hence we are flying again from Heathrow with Air Canada.

No, not sure p.kini.... Confused Bergmeister travelled with them from MAN a year or two ago - so I had just assumed that it would still be a goer - especially as the website lets you select MAN >Calgary on the drop down menu.

Ta for the tip off - that could explain it.

Cheers chocksaway - I'm not too familiar with Air Transat so had assumed (there I go again with assumptions) that they are a regular long-haul kinda operation, rather than charter-orientated.

Last autumn I booked on the last but one trip from Calgary to MAN in late October. The flights were fine but the final itinerary was not issued until 28 days before departure (4 hr difference on arrival time in UK) and the return leg was consolidated with a Gatwick flight - luckily for me we landed at MAN first.

Air transat don't fly to either Vancouver or Calgary from Manchester in the winter, they haven't for the last 2 years. Its just a bit annoying, they only fly from Gatwick to western Canada in the winter. They canceled I flight I had booked a couple of years ago told me to fly from gatwick so I asked them to book me a flight from manchester to gatwick included in the price , I got my money back! Now book with BA.
