Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all,
Inspired by the progress vid of Touchguru on separate thread, it got me thinking that it's about time I got another few lessons to brush up. Only get out 1-2 weeks a year but prob on week 9/10 now and getting more confident on blacks, dabble off to side of slopes or in easy access bowls and even feel like I want to get myself onto some moguls (WTF am I saying?!?!) to see how I get on. Need to improve my carving, still not really getting this consistently but had some great instruction from TDC in Tignes couple years back.
Heading out this sat and wondered if any good suggestions?

FiFi_Trixibell, try to book as soon as poss - very busy week (Paris holidays) which makes it an EXTRA good idea to be with an instructor and get lift priority.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

good tip, ta! Ideally would be good to try and book before we go if someone has a website/contact that I could look at. I hate the whole "booking through your TO" rep for reasons identified in another thread. I want to know EXACTLY who I am paying to be taught by!
B*gger, forgot it was Paris holidays. I did wonder how busy slopes would be. Best get our maps out to find the far flung corners away from the masses!!! #unlikely

Anyone know what new generation are like?

Ormie31, New Generation in Vallandry are very good - I did 2x 3 halfday courses and 2x 2h private lessons with them last season (I was out for the season). I felt getting explanation from a Native Brit really helped improve my skiing. However they are expensive. For intensive technique improvement I'd go with New Gen again, if I just wanted to be guided off-piste for the day I'd go with ESF or Evo2 guided group.
EDIT: Not all New Gen instructors are British, though they mainly seemed to be in Vallandry. If this was important to you'd have to request it to be sure.

It can be tricky on the timing with newgen from 2000/1950 - best to phone and see what they can run at workable times. Very good rep, although I haven't used them in years.

We used them last year. They were rubbish and we complained. We used Julien Cormons @ ESF in Arc 2000 for private lesson and he was really good.

used new gen for 4 years now and have only good things to say about them. we stayed in 1950 each time and if they can, they come over and meet u at the top of the cabriolet in 2000. if they're short of time u might have to get over to vallandry but that doesn't take more than half an hour. imho, esf can go do one.
