Wonder what the average age of the team is? Youth policy of BASI is well evident. No skiing backwards or rotations for the new schoolers!

Interski Congress in Argentina this summer. All the ISIA national associations get together to have a conference on ski instruction. Theory sessions, on snow seminars and demo skiing from each nation.

Interski videos on youtube always put a smile on my face. Always some great skiing on view...but each nation is different in their approach and what they think is the best and most efficient way to ski.
We all walk, run, swim, jump etc the most efficient way, yet associations have to find a way of putting their stamp on how we should ski.
Life would be so much simpler when skiing, if the whole world agreed on what was right.
I always remember my race coach saying... 'stop skiing like a ski Instructor'... 'let's ski correctly'... all the ski race nations, ski and race the same way, as it's the most efficient...drives me nuts ...
On a side note... if you watch any Interski videos, I naturally ski like an Italian....typical I went through the Canadian system...which imho, is the most efficient.

Or if you didn't give a crap about any of that? I find that keeps things quite simple.

Surely then we would all be robots and nobody like Bode Miller would exist. or would have had the cr*p beaten out of him for not "skiing the right way"???

Errr, no, ski racers don't all ski the same, and all race coaches definitely don't have the same philosophy. They may be more visually similar because they all have a common goal, but ski instructors skill sets have to be broader as our goals are more diverse.
As for it being simpler if everyone agreed, maybe, but once you finish your exams, you can pretty much ski however you like. I have NZ quals, but ski how I think is best (or as best I can), and train instructors the same way.
