Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Esprit place through Ski Total?

One of the reasons I particularly like Esprit is the fact that (I thought) they are exclusively for families so you won't get people going without children (unless they are with party with children leg, grandparents etc). However I was just taking a quick look at ski total after they were mentioned on another thread and there was Pepi Gabl in St Anton (into which I have booked for next season) being listed, and the description claiming "exclusive to Ski Total" and with the Ski total logo photoshopped into the image.

Do they do that normally? Or have they added it on just for some last few rooms? I must admit I find that really disappointing to see it there. Has anybody else gone with esprit to find ski total customers staying with them?

I tried to book me and a mate into a late deal a couple of seasons ago to be told no male groups as a family hotel with esprit and ended up in a total chalet so
Suprised if they merge accomodation between brands. Away as a family I like other families around and less chance of boorish behaviour when a couple of 40-50 yr old guys don't really want to be minding ps and qs and listening to kids bickering/whinging.

That is the thing I have been in the situation where you get the tutting, muttering and complaining about the fact that you are there with children from people in the past and I just don't want that any more from what is OUR holiday as well. Any ski total customers who book it could be completely ignorant of what they are booking ad well (between the photoshopped image and ski total claiming it is "exclusive" to ski total).

They're only offering it as a Total chalet for certain (out of holiday) weeks this season. Bookings with Esprit are obviously down so they're trying to fill beds, one of the Esprit chalets in St Anton has no guests in it this week where as last season they were all pretty much full. From what I understand, the same is happening in other Esprit resorts too. Guess they are suffering with the no kids out of school during term time thingy.

Interesting that they are saying it's exclusive to Total, might be the case for those weeks in offer via Total with Esprit guests booked in the Pepi being moved to one of the other Esprit chalets?

Sitter, ah maybe you are right. The only week which appears to have availability is 23 march and that one isn't in the pricing table under the property on the Esprit website. That's good. Don't mind if that is what they are doing. Could be right, about this being a symptom of the school holiday changes.

I contacted them and this is there response:

Hi Nicola,

Many thanks for your message.

For the majority of any winter season our properties will be exclusive to one of our brands only, whether Esprit or Ski Total, our sister company. On the very few occasions when an Esprit chalet is opened up to Ski Total guests as well as Esprit guests, all Ski Total guests are made fully aware that the property will be occupied by families with young children.

As you have booked on a peak Easter 2015 date the chance of this happening is minimal as this only tends to happen on low season dates!

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us!

Many thanks,
Julia

Thanks for pointing this out NickyJ,

We are booked to stay at Chalet Adler during WC 13 April this year – not advertised on Ski Total but to my surprise I’ve just seen it flogged on Iglu. I’m about to pick the phone up to Esprit unless you have an email contact I can send a note too?

Thanks

The best thing seems to be to send them a message via facebook

I have seen them on iglu in the past and they have normally made it clear it is a family specialist there?

When we were in Les Gets earlier this month the chalet below us had a similar issue. Family of 6 (booked via Esprit) in the chalet with a mid 60's couple (booked via Ski Total). The family weren't too chuffed but it didn't ruin their holiday.

What a strange observation. Why should it have ruined their holiday?

Strange obversation, on my part or theirs Puzzled

I didn't even know the set up of the chalet downstairs until I mentioned to one of the kids (that was playing out the front) that their granddad was waiting for them, which obviously wasn't the case Embarassed

Was chatting to the guy with the family and they weren't chuffed (his words, not mine) because Esprit had guaranteed (at the time of booking) that they only fill the chalets with families with kids...even in non school holidays.

Think I'd be annoyed if I was told one thing and the total opposite happened.

Craig G, strange on their part that somebody would find the family circumstances/ages of other guests dis-chuffing, and potentially spoiling their holiday regardless of how they were, and how they behaved. A bit like a grumpy old person who found the very presence of small children unpleasant, regardless of how beautifully they behaved, or a hotel trying to avoid having guests of different ethnicity or sexuality.

pam w, my late father-in-law used to be livid if there were children in the restaurant we were visiting for lunch, even if we also had our own children with us. I was constantly like a cat on hot bricks hoping neither my own nor the other diners children would make a squeak.

Hells Bells, I think there are a lot of very intolerant older people, where kids are concerned but in the various places I took my kids on holiday (and threatened them with a fate worse than death if they misbehaved) it never occurred to me that our holiday might be "ruined" if other guests included a couple in their sixties. wink

Got ya Pam. Wouldn't bother me either but people are different I suppose. I know I'd annoy the hell out of someone if they were unlucky to be lumbered with us lol

This is the thing for me, I have no problem with people being there without children as long as they are happy to share with children. I find it makes me tense and self conscious (despite my attempts to the contrary) when I can hear people tutting about and complaining about my children when they are just doing normal things.

pam w, agreed, although if someone like my father in law had been in residence, I might have been a little nervous about the whole thing going pear-shaped. I remember sharing a chalet with newly-weds, who had booked last minute. Kids were I think 11 and 12, but there were two other much younger ones staying too. I don't think couple were too amused at sharing with families, but they made the best of it, including having to have a bunk room.
