I watched a clip of young Will on the news this evening at Klosters- I must say, fairly average technique given the amount of lessons he must have had. I certainly rate the young lady higher than his technique.....

I notice from the Sun's picture that William gets a flak jacket, but the poor girl has only her Burbery Warmer. Don't seem fair

Talking about fashion here ha. Wife commented on Charles wearing a pair of rear entry boots. His outfit look pretty out of date too.
I know these guys like to blend in with the ordinary folks but rear entry boots? Aren't those boots available from ski rental only as I haven't seen them in shops for years in Europe, Canada and UK. One may pick up a good condition pair possibly in Scandinavian countries like Norway where second hand boots are commonly sold along side with the new ones.
It doesn't make sense to me that the future can afford the huge cost of security but still have to rent a pair of rear entry boots.
There is something fishy about those boots.

Rear-entry boots once accounted for over 80% of sales, for very good reasons. Only some of them were rubbish. The Salomon SX91 was probably the most inspired piece of ski boot design in history.
I look forward to hearing Prince Charles's defence of a mistakenly maligned concept.

I hope Gerry Aitken of Ski Club does not read this ( link for SCGB members only I am afraid ).
He is sure to object to the use of "probably".

Jonpim, thanks for that link to the SCGB chat site, couldn't find the thread that you were referring to though. In fact in some topics there were no threads at all!
Well done SCGB.

I think it's nice that Wills is tackling a T-bar like a normal person. I'm sure his ancestors would have insisted on being pulled up the mountain in a gold-plated sledge hauled by pure white elks wearing polished silver harnesses.

Sometimes when I've just about broken a foot trying to get into my Technica Icons (top boots WTFH - this is a demonstration of quantum temporal entanglement) which I've allowed to get too cold I wish I'd kept my SX91's .....
Didn't Dynamic introduce stainless steel (supposedly non-rust) edges at one time?

I'm still using my SX94 rear-entries - the decals are so bashed their age is not immediately obvious to those who care about fashion statements. Quite happy with them for my level of skiing and no real intention of changing. Perhaps Chazza feels the same way ? Did however finally abandon my old Kastle 'long & thin' skis and I now rent eye-brow height carvers.

kuwait_ian, at last some decent advice on How High for Carvers.
Eye-brow high. Of course. Thanks. That's what I will be asking for next Friday.

Jonpim, chin to forehead is an acceptable range, depending on conditions, and speed. For off piste go longer, otherwise, nose level is a good guide

ok, here is a face...
the chin is the bit below the mouth
The nose is between the eyes, and above the mouth, and the forehead is slightly above the eyebrows.
Hope this helps

Ah but returning (almost) to thread, what about the chinless wonders ?

I know it is off the subject but would people really stick to rear entry boots with a couple of flimsy wire adjustment when they can have 4 metal buckles + fine adjustment screws of the modern top entry boots? Say if the two are charged at the same rental rate.
I don't think nowaday rear entry boots are manufactured by any of the the big names.
There is nothing wrong with the rear entry boots or parallel skis. The question is really when one can afford a BMW M3 would he/she still prefer to drive a MK 1 Ford Escort.
