Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Emerald green lenses?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have been looking a lot at these recently

http://www.rxsport.co.uk/products/Bolle-Carve-Ski-Goggles-%252d-Black-Green-Fade-%7B47%7D-Green-Emerald.html

Don't have a lot to spend and not having any really decent sunglasses I'm going to try and rely on a single pair of goggs for my week in France. I was wondering would this deep green colour be too dark in cloudy snowy conditions. Website seems to suggest a good range of use, but presumably not as good as a more orange all rounder.

In people's experience has anyone used this colour much or vermillion which also comes with th same model but cheaper?

Tomf05, the lens info on that page you linked to says 18% light transmission (so, it's blocking out 82% of the light), which is usually for medium to bright light, so I'm surprised it says "overcast to sunny" in the description. The lens itself is amber, so it will improve contrast but just don't expect miracles on overcast days and it is definitely not suitable for flat light or whiteout.

For flat light days, you need a lens that allows a high percentage of light to be transmitted (around 80%) and has either a yellow or persimmon lens.

I don't know Bolle goggles, are you able to easily change lenses? If so, then I recommend getting that emerald lens plus one suitable for flat light and just swap them out as conditions change.

If Bolle goggles don't have swappable lenses, then consider Oakley or Smith, which do. The internet opticians website has Oakleys for a very good price. I'm sure you will find decently-priced Smith goggles out there too. Just don't buy off eBay, where there are loads of fakes.

If it was down to me, I would rather spend more on getting decent goggle and lenses that are optically correct and suitable for conditions (because it's really important to be able to see where you are going when you're haring down a mountain at speed!) and just do less après partying this trip Very Happy

Tomf05, you need Bollé vermillion modulator lens if you want one that covers everything. Bollé goggles will be optically correct, sold by my optician for that reason.
