Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

lynny, no, it's extra faff for a beginner and might unbalance her. Put some chewing gum in her pocket - helps if the mouth feels dry. And enjoy a drink after the lesson.

lynny, my view would tend towards having as little extra paraphernalia as possible - there will be more than enough to think about as it is. Might be worth having a Mars bar/similar tucked in a pocket. I'm sure a one or two hour lesson will be fine without a drink so long as she is sufficiently hydrated beforehand.

At the most, a small RTD carton of drink might be useful, if she does tend towards getting thirsty. No rucksack IMHO.

I usually take one of these partially filled an stuffed in my pocket. It is enough for a few sips to quench your thirst.

Would concur with J9, great idea. Similar were (and may still are, haven't checked recently) available in our local Poundstretcher for about £1. We've had them a couple of years without problems.

she's not 3 years old! My old man always had a mini choc bar in his pocket but his excuse was being diabetic. A non-diabetic adult ought to be able to cope with a ski lesson without chomping a Mars bar!

I've always skied with a small rucksack, right from when I was a beginner. I get dehydrated pretty easily, which affects my concentration, so I find having a drink helps that. I've never found the rucksack to be an issue.

Definately no sack. Depending how the instructor feels he may well ask her to leave it behind.

Perhaps an energy bar or Jelly Babies in a pocket but, please, no chocolate or it will end up a mess.

If it's a long lesson then the instructor will probably stop for a break anyway. Take money!

She should be able to cope for few hours without drinks/snacks. Normally she would also get a chance to stop for a break if the lesson is long enough and she feels like she needs it.

lynny,

In Seefled you are never more than a few minutes from refreshment Very Happy

If it is her first time skiing then she will probably be skiing on Geigenbühel / Birkenlift, and there is a small bar at the bottom of the slope near to the lift (selling drinks, chocolate etc but not much substantial food). Also the Kracherlemoos hotel does good food etc. (very reasonable prices too) and is just beyond the ski school kindergarten. If she is in the kids ski school (you didn't say how old she is), they take them into the ski school hut and give them sweets & squash drinks twice a day.

chewing gum is not a great idea when doing sports.

I'm pretty sure she will be able to survive a ski lesson without needing food or drink.
