Not sure if you can see this clearly, but this is the, slightly tatty, Olympic clock counting down. 14 days, 3 hours and 26 minutes to go...... Bit less now.

And according to Chemmy who was talking on Talk Sport today it's 18 degrees celcius with no snow. Luckily they saved tons of snow from last year in a warehouse.

When we say there is no snow, do we actually mean, no snow?

not brilliant but looking at the frost on stuff it should be cold enough to get the canons going and fill in the brown bits...

Well there clearly IS snow, and fresh snow at that, even if not as much as we'd all like, and the 18 degrees sounds like the temp at Sochi, not up the mountain which is 40 miles away. Why does everyone seem so determined that these games will be a disaster?

Just had a closer look at Fattes13's picture of the alpine centre taken today. Look at the bottom of the piste on the right and you can see a ledge where the netting ends. Above that there appears to be about 6ft of snow.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

6ft? yeah right. My link is from resort not the City.

blahblahblah, I wasn't referring to your link. Not sure why you made that comment about resort vs city. I was commenting on what Chemmy said. Make your own mind up about how much snow is on the piste, not the brown area. 3 ft or 6 ft, there looks like plenty on that run doesn't there?

I am looking forward to it and hope it all comes together.
Yes the run looks fine, my concern was not political but weather related.
The comment about resort versus city was based on the fact the temperature in the city is high, but that is no problem, unlike the DM article that implied the high temps in the city would be important.
