Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel SKi Hire - Mussillon

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello all - staying in Meribel end of Feb in a chalet which I am told is about 250 yards down the hill from Dicks Tea Bar (away from centre). I am trying, but failing, to find the nearest ski hire shop to this. Does anyone have any ideas? Chalet Vielle Grange is the name of our place. Sorry if obvious, but I've never been to the area... Thanks.

So you're staying with Ski Beat. Vieille Grange is a very nice chalet, though Mussillon is a little walk into Meribel Centre (only 10 minutes or so) where all the main hire shops are. The resort bus stops not too far away so you could easily catch that back with your kit, but its really not a bad walk at all (downhill on the way back from resort too).

Ski Beat always used to use a mobile ski hire company called Ski Higher; they came to the chalet after you arrive, so you don't even have to go up to the centre. They also meet you on the mountain if you have any problems during the day, or come to the chalet in the evening to swap anything else. A really good service. Not sure if they still do it (I was resort manager for Ski Beat in Meribel in 2011-12) but if they do I'd recommend it.

Otherwise, up in the town the places I know of are intersport and ski republic, only in that friends used them and they were decent (and, to be fair, a bit cheaper than the mobile service). But there's plenty of others via an online search, just make sure they're in Meribel Centre.
