Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Prescription Goggles - Smiths turbofan - any experiences?

I need to stop wearing contact lenses for skiing. Will wear prescription Oakleys whenever the weather is good but am looking at the options for prescription goggles for when it is snowing. I'll still use sunglasses in poor light.

I've always suffered with fogging on sunglasses, let alone goggles over glasses, and I use anti-fog solution often more than once per day.

It seems that all prescription goggles require lenses inserted that are separate from the goggles lens, and I'm sure they will fog up for me. So I'm looking at at Smiths goggles with fans. They have been around for many years in the US but haven't seen them on sale in the UK.

Does anyone have any experience of these turbofan goggles, especially with prescription lens inserts? Do they really cure fogging?

pjckt, I've never used the fans lenses, but I've found Smiths to be very very fog-resistant - to the point that they've never fogged up.

Pjckt, my son uses the goggle inserts and they only fog after a major wipe for him. As long as they're properly ventilated, they're good as gold.
Met an old boy in a lift with the fans and they intrigued me. I'm just goggles, no prescription. He swore by the fans but they seem overkill to me, just keep moving and don't make like an ostrich.
