Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How many UK expats work in the snow?

I found this infographic from www.currency.co.uk rather interesting.

It got me thinking, how many UK expats are there working in the ski/snowboarding industry?

Does anybody know of a good resource where I could get this information?
... Any kind of help will be appreciated![/img]

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You might get more answers if you didn't post it in the 'Off Piste' forum, which isn't as busy as, say, the 'Piste' forum wink

Also, that's a monstrously large image you've got there. No chance of a smaller version?

Expats, as in permanently emigrated, probably not very many. A number of people work winter seasons in the snow and summer seasons in the sun (e.g. TO reps, ski/sailing instructors) and so are hardly ever 'home' in the UK, without really being 'expats'.

Temporary seasonal workers (chalet slaves, bar and restaurant staff, instructors, TO reps etc) possibly several thousand?

Lots of expats in Calgary. Few I know make their primary income from the snow but its Calgary and we all make a decent income to spend it on the snow at the weekends.

THere aren't any of those anywhere, given that you don't know whether or not it was permanent until you're dead.

No idea about snowsports industry, but spotted this on Facebook regarding British immigrants across Europe.

My guess would have been closer to 1-2 thousand than 1-2 hundred thousand. On reflection, maybe as much as 5,000 but I'd be surprised if it was much more.

Can't see any remote relevance of the vast emigration chart and the 'total no. of expats to date' seems a bit wierd. Do they really mean 'to date'? Since when? 1066? The ascent of man?
