Poster: A snowHead

Hi All,
Being keen Snowheads and now having bought a Motorhome, we're planning a first trip in the van Quite fancy the campsite in Orelle, for lat March due to rapid access to Val Thorens. Just wondered if anyone has stayed there, and in particular the bus to the lifts. The website suggests it only runs in school hols. If not is there ski storage at the bottom of the 3 valleys express lift or even at the top. Don't fancy the walk from the campsite to the lift in skiboots
Thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Don't think the bus runs from the camp site down to the lift but there are often Motorhomes parked in the car park by the lift but no electricity/water facilities. No there isn't any ski storage at the bottom but I'm sure you could leave shoes in the bar/ski hire shop if you ask nicely and rent skis/buy beer.
Wouldn't you be better at the motorhome park in Les Menuires which is more central and has motorhome facilities?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks. The site at Les Menuires looks like just an aire whereas we really wanted a hook up and showers. Had looked at Meribel/Le Raffort, but as we are planning on end of March, Orelle looks more convenient for the whats likely to be the bst snow i.e. VT

Having skied 3V a number of times late march and in April, the theory that VT has the best snow then isn't always true. On the last week of the 3V season last year Courchevel (and particularly 1650) seemed to be far nicer. (and VT was busy whereas courchevel was empty!)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not sure I agree. There is a reason that Courcheval shuts a week or two earlier than VT year after year. Last year in May the snow was very good in VT.

Hi,
The bus operates all ski season. Not just in the school holidays. Best snow is definitely on the Orelle/Val Thorens side with much less ice towards the start and end of the season.
Orelle is quiet and having your own transport helps. But it's beautiful and I love it!

Bus runs from the appartments to the ski lift all season - just doesn't go from the campsite.

No - don't think there is a bus from the campsite, just from the appartments.
