Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Driving to La Tania where to stop

 Poster: A snowHead

Afternoon guys

was after some advice. A few of us are driving down to La Tania on 22nd of Feb. We cant actually get into the chalet until the sunday so am after some advice on where to possibly stay nearer the bottom of the hills to make getting up there early sunday for a ski easier!!

Any suggestions welcome, looking at trying to keep it pretty cheap though.

s is best to look round Albertville or a little further out

Cheers

benpudney, if you can bear to cope with the twice, you might consider staying in Moutiers on the Friday night (but will be v busy that night, need to book) and drive up for a quieter changeover day ski. The Sunday will be much quieter on the roads, true, but very busy on the piste. But presumably you'll have the Saturday following as your last day skiing, which will be nice.

pam w,

Yeah were booked in for sunday - sunday change over! I would imagine having worked in tignes a few years back, that the Saturday traffic is still horrendous around the valley? so was really looking to get somewhere late on Saturday to miss all the early traffic then head straight up on the sunday for the extra days ski.

The following Saturday will be last ski day and leave again on the sunday morning!

thanks

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

benpudney, yes, Sunday changeover makes lots of sense. If you don't want to try to grab that first Saturday too, I'd have a leisurely start from the UK on Saturday morning and aim to arrive Moutiers (better than Albertville) late, just in time for bed, hopefully letting most of the Paris traffic get down ahead of you.

pam w,

Excellent thank you for the advice. we had looked at f1 in chambery as an option for the 4 of us, as it was cheap, but Terminus seems a good option and closer if we can get in there

Ibis budget in Albertville is only 35 minutes away, reasonably cheap and has recently been done up so is another option.

I've stayed at the Etap in Challes-les-Eaux (Chambery-sud) on a number of occasions, going to and from either La Plagne or Val Thorens - it is a bit further out from resort (but it's closer to channel port!) and I guess at worst no more than maybe 90 minutes to La Tania.

It's another viable option, should the others not be available.

So as it happens. The group dropped from 4 to 3 and became cheaper to fly. Yes we miss out a day ski but that's life.

Thanks for the advice will keep it in mind for future trips
