Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alastair that's reassuring one of my party had a colleague just come back from C1650 and said conditions had detoriated due to warm weather. Grateful for info on pistes around courchevel if you are over there at all. any snow forecast in the next week-though we don't arrive until the 11th. I just want a nice base for when we get there

Another suny day with pistes good again. Not too busy.

Unfortunately reports will be rather second hand for a while now as I broke my collarbone a couple of hours ago. dan100, quite a bit of snow is expected, but what effect it will have is difficult to tell as high winds are also expected.

Alastair. Ouch! Very sorry to hear that. A collarbone is the only bone I've ever damaged in skiing - about 30 years ago. It's an annoying injury. Wishing you a good recovery ...

Oh dear! That's another snowHead with season-long access to the slopes that's picked up a fracture (PG last season, eEvans this season). Hope you make a quick recovery.

How was the recovery from the piste - did you have the same bad service that snowbunny got last season?

dan100, It'll be x-rayed again at the end of the week and I hope to get some kind of indication as to how it's going then.

rob@rar.org.uk, Carte Neige! The incident occurred in Les Menuires and they were very helpful. First time in a 'blood wagon' - an interesting way to get down the mountain. The doctor was pleasant enough; I shall be interested to see how the VT medical centre compares.

One serious matter, however - the painkillers they have given me are incompatible with alcohol. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad I wonder if I should simply stick to alcohol on its own Toofy Grin

Alastair, Really sorry to hear my favourite Val Thorens snowHead has been in the wars - from past experience of attempting to drown out broken bones with alcohol, unfortunately it just doesn't seem to work, so I'd go for max strength painkillers for a while.

Oh yes, and go up to Chalet Abricot and ask Kate and Hannah for a massage or something (but gently round the shoulders), sure they'd oblige if you tell them the mad bird from the w/c 10 Dec sent you...

If they don't remember remind them of the club, the weird bloke insisting he was going to dance with his coat on, and my slight altercation with the barman and the ice cubes Embarassed ... oh, yes, and give them a big snowHead HUG from me too!

Alastair, What a shame. I hope you have a really quick recovery. Just think - NH jockeys only have a mandatory 2 weeks off for a collarbone - in the old days they used to ride with broken collar bones - wouldn't recommend it though. Hope the docs are all good. Keep off the booze until the pain goes away. Hopefully we'll all see you fit and well at the EOSB. Madeye-Smiley

About 20cm of fresh snow overnight, with another 40-80cm forecast by tomorrow morning. Heavy snow at the moment. Bad news: winds of up to 90km/h expected for a while this afternoon. Most lifts opening late (or not at all) today. Brief respite expected tomorrow morning, then more snow.

More heavy snow and high winds overnight - and it continues. Transfer day - and the road into VT has been blocked for quite a while, although it seems to be moving very slowly now.

Correction to the above - the road is still blocked (for over a couple of hours now). When they get the road running, chains mandatory from Les Menuires upwards. No lifts running - extensive avalanche blasting in progress. Heavy snow continues and shows no signs of abating. Looks like I won't be the only person here not skiing today. Still, at least I'm not a transfer rep!

Foggy and many pistes closed today, so crowded skiing in a white out apparantly Shocked . More snow has been falling - once again, more than I think was expected. Avalanche warning level remains at 5.

Alastair, Sorry to hear you 'bought the farm' - hope you're on the piste to recovery. Didn't make it up to Val Thorens on Saturday, Feb 25th - I must have been given some mind-altering, hallucinogenic substance to have even considered it!
