Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Volkl Kenja - much change from last year's model?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,

Following on from my last post (on which skis to buy)... I have demo'd the Santa Ana 93s, the Kore 93s and the Kenja 88s. Of the 3, the Kenjas were by far my favourite (more lively than the Kores and stiffer than the Santa Anas). I'm just wondering if the 2018/2019 (green/black) model was as good as the 2019/2020 (orange/brown) version. It seems there are quite a few updates, so if I buy the 2018/2019 ones (which are much more affordable and a much nicer colour imo) might I be disappointed? I'm not really that fussy, I just loved how the Kenjas were thirsty for speed but were really easy at the same time.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Zoe Smile

zeon, Slightly narrower by a couple of mm, at the waist, and 2mm greater at the tip - as I said SWMBO loves hers and they are previous years models. Before this seasons they have stayed the same apart from graphics IIRC.

I doubt too much you would really notice any differences.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Bones. I think that settles it - I started looking at the 90Eights too but have no way to demo those so I think I'd best stick with the Kenjas!

I think this years kenjas have slightly less metal in them than last years and I think it's been strategically placed in the ski to still keep it fairly stiff but lighter in weight. Oh and I'm sure I read something about 3d edge technology!? Maybe ask Google
