Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Car parking in Les Arcs

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have just returned from Les Arcs and noticed that car parking in 1600 is starting to become a problem. We arrived on Christmas eve and even then there were not many car parking spaces left in the village. The massive car park at Plan Devin was completely full, which is odd since there are not that many apartments there. When I left on Thursday there where cars driving around looking for spaces and even trying to queue up for my space when I vacated it. Cars were parked everywhere on verges. The police were trying to shift a car so a fire engine could get access.

OK I know that this New Year is anticipated to be the busiest week of the year, but are these extra cars something to do with being charged for parking in Bourg and people driving upto 1600 to save money?

johnE, Funnily enough, we noticed it in Plan Peisey too. A local friend thought it was because of the parking charge in Bourg that people were now looking for the free spaces in the resorts instead. Another friend who always used to park for free by the funi says he now drives up to the mid-station (funi) & parks there for free. Reckons it costs him more in petrol, but it's the principle...
