Already seems to be well covered.. but just incase of any gaps!
Less than £300 including flights, transfers and a self-catered apartment.
Less than £400 will give you catering.
Just over £500 would be a good quality catered property in one of the big “super resorts”.
Of course, there is everything in between too!
Definitely worth it to stretch to the latter if you can, as there is a huge difference for not that much extra £-wise. Worth knowing also that £6-700 starts to bring more comfort and even a bit of luxury in a better location. |
Needs to be 50%+ off the brochure price to be a good late deal for me!!
Quality 4* catered in a big resort for £299 or under! I did it last year in Lech...but booked on the Tuesday before it departed...hold your nerves guys...they need to fill them even if it's just to cover costs and make the profit at Xmas & Half Term!

I'd say that you take the WOW prize Luigi!! Which Lech hotel & operator was that?
Won't happen every year though! I used to work in Canada and we would get last minutes, that would book the night before without even knowing what resort they were going to!
Personally, I'd pay a bit extra in order to get everything right, but its all horses for courses...

Iglu are currently showing 4,729 unsold Chalet holidays in 464 properties for January...plus all the others who don't list there...plus all the HB hotel deals...plenty to go round!!!
La Rosiere 4* Chalet deal inc flights for 18th Jan on there for £249...missed that one!!
La Tania 3* Chalet deals from Gatwick going this weekend Sat 4th for £199!!

That would be telling...big chalet operator in a 4* Chalet hotel, pre-Xmas week...and everything was right...even got the suite room that no-one else wanted to pay the supplement for...except for that price only being discounted the week of departure...and not a lot of people can go at the drop of a hat.
It's happened every year since 1998 when I first started skiing on a £169 last-minute late season Chalet deal in Selva...but obviously you can't guarantee exact dates, airports, resorts or more than 2 places available. No good for peak dates, those who need to book time off work or groups.

Yep, I was particularly impressed by the Lech option.
I know which company you refer to! Used to work for them actually! And, yeah, they have a good set-up, some cracking properties in good locations.

Good deal to me, around £ 500 per head for everything.
If I could find a nice catered chalet, for between £600-£700 think I'd go there every year for ever.
Just find them way to expensive, for what you can get from a T O

Hi Esdel,
Send me an email (adam.brown@glaciustravel.com) as I think that I can help.
Have a look at www.glaciustravel.com for a taste of what we offer.
Very much an approach of finding out exactly what you want from your holiday. We then tap into the database (of tour operators as well as independent hotels and chalets across the board) and aim to find you a trip that matches your wishes!
Best wishes
Adam

The best we've found so far is accommodation, lift pass etc for a week in Tignes for £189. Obviously flights on top of that, but even so! Crazy prices. |
The lift pass for 6 days is €252 so that makes the accommodation costing a minus quantity

Yep, we've just changed our membership, and the logo just needs to be added in again.
We have very recently started as a managed franchise within Barrhead Travel which is one of the UK's biggest travel groups, protecting each of us and all of our guests, whilst we also get access to their fantastic supplier databases.
We are still very independent though, operating from our own office.
I'm tempted to go into lots of detail, but don't want to bore everyone!
Please feel free to pick up the phone or email me adam.brown@glaciustravel.com
Cheers

UPDATE on the 18th Jan £249 Chalet Papillon deal to La Rosiere advertised on Iglu, Tour Op here is Ski Beat.
Last night they had at least one room at that chalet on their website. This morning I spotted it on Iglu at £249, checked the website and the room wasn't available, presumably sold, I kicked myself for missing it. Later this afternoon it was still posted on Iglu, so I called the Ski Beat to find out more what's going on.
They say it was a mistake on Iglu and they hadn't sold a deal today for £249, but quickly launched into an upsell to a £399 deal to a different chalet. Funny they hadn't pulled the ad off Iglu as the phone must have been ringing all day for that!! I wonder how many callers they managed to upsell to!!
Not impressed with Ski Beat if they're using Bait & Switch marketing!
It still hasn't been pulled...5 hrs after they told me it was a misprint!

Send a note to my email, adam.brown@glaciustravel.com , as really need to engage in a bit of dialogue to find out exactly what you want!
Loads of deals out there and very easily found on google, but we put a lot of thought into individual needs. Good chance you will end up on one of the same deals, but we will make sure that the resort and property is right for you before suggesting it.

Hi Luigi, isn't it Igluski at fault here advertising out of date info? Plus they want you to call them and be told the deal has gone not go direct to the operator generating 0 income for them.

Yeah, maybe I'm jumping the gun blaming the Tour Op...but not sure where Igluski got the info for that deal if it wasn't supplied by the tour op...no doubt both are using the opportunity of this 'mistake' to upsell.
I never buy a holiday through Igluski, I just use the site as a deal-finder then google the property name and book direct with the relevant TO for added security.
Oh well...onwards & upwards!

^Poor behaviour imo, especially as iglu normally come up cheaper. As for added security I've found them considerably more helpful than operators direct when it comes to dealing with any problems, their helpline is great.

Same as having a salesman assist you with picking something in a shop and then going online for a better deal. I know people do it, I just don't like it (maybe as my parents run a shop )
|
|
|
|
|
|
That's the free market for you
I will often buy something a bit more in a shop when I have had good service but for anything else will look for the cheapest price. There is also a world of difference between a real person and a load of automated screen scrapes!

So, I am something of a newbie on Snowheads, Is there a deals page on here? Or should be posted on here? Don't want to overload people with info that they don't want to hear about. Happy to be pointed to a deals specific page and I'll post as I get time.
It is a minefield about whats available and constantly changing, and our business simply doesn't have the manpower to keep the website up to date.
Here is an example of landed in my emails today:
Chalet Le Valentin in Sauze (lots of piste mileage, great area for intermediates, very lively and affordable apres nightlife) departing 12th Jan, £325, based on two persons sharing and flying from Manchester, Chalet board catering.

Think it should be. My parents also own a specialist sports shop and the reality is that their shop will be missed when they finally retire. Completely agree with A.j that service doesn't mean that you are being over-charged - and should be rewarded with loyalty, or at least a chance to price match.

Hello
When does it seem sensible to lose your nerve and book when looking at a last minute deal? Currently looking at w/c 18th, and there's a few chalet deals around for £349/£399, which seems pretty decent for two weeks before, but tempted to leave it until early the week we want to go as there's a lot popped up in the last couple of days for the 4th. It's just a risk we'll find everything good goes the week before though!!

adamatglaciustravel, more than happy to pay for specialist advise and service, not prepared to pay £50 more to buy a fridge in a warehouse compared to online

Industry hint: 3 1/2 weeks is the best time, in terms of getting balance of choice and availability. If you are completely flexible then, as late as you please! If you have your heart set on a property location/type, then I reckon 3-4 weeks. Personally! As it gets closer, availability will get tighter. Hope that helps!

Wow! Luigi definitely tops the list of package holiday deals! I find Crystal and Iglu etc quite expensive unless you are willing or able to book right at the last minute.
We tend to go self catering and just got one week in Austria for myself, the husband, our two kids & my sister and her family for £160 per person including flights from Birmingham to Salzburg.
Not a main resort but at that price you really cant argue! Makes skiing affordable for my sister and her family who haven't got much money. Here is the link for anyone looking for budget accommodation in Austria (http://www.chalet-hire.com/chalet/chalet-14-woody-resort)
