Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Worrying about the handle on an ABS airbag

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am now the proud owner of a new ABS airbag.

When I collected it from the shop in France, the sales guy stressed that the handle should be removed before getting on any lift, then reconnected at the top before skiing off-piste. This is so that the handle doesn't snag on a chairlift and suddenly inflate. The ABS airbag has a velcro strap which holds it, but it could, just, get snagged if you were unlucky or thoughtless.

Taking the handle off and on has to be done with gloves off, and it is a bit of a faff.

So...do I assume that the salesman in the shop just has to cover his back against complaints (the Health and Safety nonsense) and I should therefore ignore this advice and just leave the handle on and not worry about it, or should I take this point seriously?

Advice, please.

Ignore him, only take it off in busy bars etc where idiots may pull it for a laugh.

Cover the pull handle with the Velcro cover when on lifts is my advice. Push the Velcro under the pull handle when skiing a risky run such that you could pull if needed.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

A crowded large standing room only gondola is the only place I may consider taking it out in case someone stumbles and grabs it. In real life the velcro flap, as Mark said, stops any likely mnovement. They do need quite a strong tug to discharge.
