Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What's the skiing (or boarding) equivalent of GAS?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm constantly suffering from GAS (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome) and I was wondering what the equivalent was for skiing or even boarding?

I'm a one/two week a year skier and I hire my skis (I'm not counting the old pair of Salomon F9s in the garage wink ) but lately I've had a hankering for buying my own skis and I keep noseying in the pages of catalogues and on line stores.

The same with boots. I've had my X-Wave 8s for about 10 years and I keep thinking I should get some new ones. They're still in good nick although one of the buckles on the left boot is a bit bent so there's my justification Toofy Grin

As for clobber; I bought some new ski trousers 12 months ago, I've got my trusty Nike Goretex shell and a variety of fleeces, softshells and base layers for layering options but I keep browsing the on-line stores and shops and trying stuff on for size, fit, comfort and usability.

So what's the GAS equivalent? Help me Snowheads, you're my only hope Laughing

halfhand, From what you say it sounds like you have no issues whatsoever. Time to worry is when you start referring to your collection of planks as "a quiver" and then line them up in height or phatness order and photograph them for all to admire. All snowHeads that do this have wooden floors and white walls - either that or they all live together.

halfhand, oh dear, do you have a garage or attic with some space in it? Worse do you have children? I'm not at all sure how many skis we have.

Me; 3 pairs telemark skis (but bindings only on 2 of these), 1 pair alpine, Mrs Ed: 1 pair alpine 1 pair spare, Ed Maximus: 1 pair telemark, 1 pair alpine, Ed Major 1 pair alpine 1 pair ready for telemark bindings, Ed Minor- 1 pair and one to grow into (oh dear that's 12 pairs of skis). Then there's boots…….lots of boots…everywhere..

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

It's actually an inequality, where n(actual) > n(wife's belief of how many pairs one has)

And of course n (optimum) > n(needed) > n(owned), always ensuring that n(needed) contains a minimum factor of safety of 1.5, and that n must be an integer.

It is a similar situation with bikes
